What is wrist bursitis?
Wrist bursitis is a painful inflammation of the wrist joint. There are two fluid-filled sacs known as bursae in the wrist. The radial bursa covers the thumb tendon and the ulnar bursa covers the fingers. Their function is to reduce friction and act as shock absorbers in the joint. When one or both bursae become inflamed, it is known as bursitis.
What causes bursitis?
Usually bursitis caused by a fall or direct hit to the area, but it can also be caused by repetitive stress on the joint.
What are the symptoms of bursitis?
When there is inflammation in a joint, it can cause pain, swelling, and stiffness. Wrist bursitis may cause difficulty using the wrist and hand.
What is the right brace for wrist bursitis?
Since the wrist is used in most day-to-day activities, the bursae are in constant use and cannot heal. A wrist brace can stabilize the joint and provide compression to alleviate pain and allow the bursae to heal.
